site purpose 2
The site sprang out of research into the old teams simply because, as a kid, I was a fan of the teams. I had the pleasure of attending two games in person, watched some on TV, and heard a few on radio. Unfortunately I did not keep all of the mementoes or articles I accumulated as a youth. I can recall dutifully recording every score on my homemade schedule each week. I also recall taking the incomplete schedule down in 1975 upon the WFL's demise. I suppose the biggest thing that I remember was the feeling that I had a pro football team to cheer for that belonged to my friends and me. It was great being a devout Alabama Crimson Tide fan as well as cheering for Birmingham. Unfortunately it was all too short lived. |

Site Purpose 3
Motivations:
I have played video games throughout my life. I barely remember the days of Atari, but I grew up on Nintendo. The better days when a video game controller consisted of only an A and B button instead of today's A, B, Y, X, black, white, left trigger, and right trigger controller buttons. Eight bit games such as Punch-Out and Mario will always hold a special place in my heart. Yet, I indulge in the new games without having an intimate knowledge of the past. My central motivation is to discover how the video game evolved and the impact it had on society. |

In the eyes of students, using technology can improve the effectiveness of your course. Highlights from a study of 2,054 two- and four-year college students by the Pew Internet & American Life Project (San Jose Mercury, 10/19/02, p. C1) disclose that: |

web site purpose and design
Before embarking on a new web site project, the first consideration should be the purpose behind creating the site. It may seem that I am just stating the obvious, and I am. All too often though, that obvious and most important consideration gets overlooked. Many companies, for example, have a web site because they feel they ought to have one, but have not considered the message they want the website to project. Without a focus the site can project the wrong message, an incomplete message, or worst of all, leave the visitor wondering what the message actually is. |

purpose of site
Close your eyes and picture a person holding a bow and arrow. A lot of very different images might come to mind. Robin Hood is an obvious choice but how about an American Indian, an Eskimo or a Pygmy Bushman? Perhaps you see a Caveman or an African tribesman? Who can forget the deadly archers in the movie "Braveheart"? Imagine medieval archers firing arrows from high on top of an English castle at the attacking army. Why do you think Knights wore suits of armor and carried great shields? Battles were fought while the sky rained arrows. History books are full of images of men and women with bows and arrows, from Egyptian Kings to Japanese Samurai.
